What is included in this package?

Your original oil painting of your lovely pet will arrive with:

  • a personalized certificate of authenticity
  • a behind-the-art letter detailing the creation process
  • a copy of the preliminary concept study drawn for the final original painting

Additionally, you will receive all content as digital pdf-versions as well as a digital copy of your commissioned artwork!

What materials are used for the artwork?

I primarily paint with watermixable oil-paint, which really is no different than normal oil paint - it's as high quality, long-lasting and archival as the non-watermixable version. Sometimes, though rarely, I will work with an acrylic layer before painting the layers on top in oil.

What sizes?

Different sizes come with different materials.

You can choose between the following options:

  • Canvaspaper on Woodpanel
  • Stretched Cotton-Canvas 280gsm
  • Stretched Cotton-Canvas 380gsm

How does the process work?

  1. You send me an email sharing the specifics of what you imagine the final result to contain and what color(s) you absolutely want to see in the final painting. Additionally, email me at least one reference photo of your pet in high quality (good camera, good lighting) + a list of characteristics, maybe even a little backstory or an emotional piece talking about your love for your pet and some memories you cherish with them.
  2. I will contact you with the specifics about the process
  3. Afterwards I'll create a sketch / a compositional study
  4. After discussing the initial stage, you let me know if you're ready to proceed with the project
  5. The painting process begins
  6. You will receive a photo of the final result.
  7. The finished painting will be shipped to you.

Can I request changes?

One minor adjustment to the paintings (i.e. adding details in a certain area) is included.

Bigger changes are possible with an additional fee which will be determined on an individual basis, depending on the piece, motif etc.

Communication:

For inappropriate behavior in communication, I reserve the right to cancel the commission.

What do I own exactly?

You will be the owner of the original painting, and you have the right to display the work in your private residence (apartment, house etc.).

As the artist, I retain all copyright to and reproduction rights of the artwork, which implies that I have permission to use the artwork for art prints and other products on my website. (as a frame of reference you can think of the portraits throughout history that are still in circulation today - this timeless notion of presentation is part of the process.)

Due to the nature of portraits being very personal, often emotively charged pieces of art, I will treat the creation and curation process, as with all of my paintings, with the utmost respect and diligence.
The purchase or commissioning of an original painting does not grant you permission to create reproductions. This is inclusive of but not limited to: book covers, posters, printing, etc. Partial nor full rights to artwork will ever be made available to purchase.
